Turon Saging / Saba Filipino Snack Recipe

Turon Recipe Ingredients:

banana (preferably ripe saba) peeled
brown sugar
vegetable oil or any kind of cooking oil
lumpia wrapper / spring roll wrapper (balat ng lumpia)
white sugar for better taste
water or egg for sealing balat ng lumpia

Preparation Instructions for Turon Snack Recipe

1. Cut saba bananas in three parts lengthwise.

2. Combine brown sugar and white sugar in a saucer and sprinkle into bananas.

3. Wrap saba bananas in a lumpia wrapper.

4. Spray water on the wrapped bananas and roll over the mixture of sugar. If desired, you can put vanilla flavor in the water for additional essence. It will also add aroma to your turon recipe.

5 . Deep fry until golden brown . Drain excess cooking oil by putting your turon on a strainer.

Turon is a nutritious and cheap snack that you and your family will surely enjoy. You will take pleasure in the soft and sweet taste of the inside and you will feel the crunch of the outside. Eat it as a dessert or a mid-afternoon merienda together with your favorite beverages.

How to Make Tuna Sandwich – Filipino Snack Recipe

Ingredients for High Protein Filipino Snack

1 can of Century Tuna (drained)
2 tablespoon of regular mayonnaise
3 pairs Tasty bread or Pinoy Tasty
fresh lettuce leaves
tomatoes (slice thinly)
ground black pepper and/or salt for taste

Preparation Instructions for Tuna Sandwich

Toast Pinoy Tasty on an oven toaster for about 1 and half minutes. Prepare the Century Tuna by putting it in a bowl. Separate the oil and make sure the tuna is well drained. Put the mayonnaise and mix well but be sure not to over mix. Add a bit a pepper and salt for added taste. If you want your tuna sandwich spicy, add a drop of two of hot sauce. Lay your toasted tasty bread on a plate and Spread your tuna mix on top. Put in place lettuce leaves and the tomatoes. You and your kids can now enjoy the high protein Filipino snack food.

The tuna spread mix will cover three pairs of tasty bread. You can also add sweet pickles and/or hard boiled eggs. The pickles and the eggs will serve as extenders allowing you to make more tuna sandwiches. In addition, the egg also provides high protein for your body. Be sure to buy tuna fish or century tuna in legitimate supermarkets.

Kwek-kwek Recipes ( Tokneneng Itlog ng Pugo Recipe)

Today, I’ll show you how to make kwek-kwek recipe that you can make at home. It is a simple snack idea that you and your loved ones can enjoy especially if you are on a tight budget. Kwek-kwek is a cheap and healthy Filipino food and is also a good source of protein. It is really simple to make and you can make a whole bunch and keep it in the refrigerator for later consumption. When you are hungry between meals, you can grab a quick snack like this.

Ingredients of Kwek-kwek Recipe:

6 medium sized chicken eggs (hard-boiled)
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup water
2 cups vegetable oil or cooking oil for deep frying
Salt for additional taste
White pepper
Orange food color
2 table spoon corn starch


How to Cook Kwek-kwek:

Mix all-purpose flour, water, salt and pepper in a medium sized bowl. Mix well until frothy. Gradually add food color until the batter becomes orange in color. Roll over each egg on the corn starch and dip into mixed batter. Using fork, be sure that all sides of eggs are fully covered. Deep fry the prepared kwek-kwek into vegetable or cooking oil. Wait until the flour is cooked. Enjoy your kwek-kwek with vinegar dip with siling labuyo and chopped onions or garlic.

Since we are deep frying, heat vegetable oil before putting the eggs with kwek-kwek batter.

You can also use quail eggs (itlog ng pugo) or duck eggs (penoy or balot), whichever is available in your local supermarket. Another variation of kwek-kwek recipe, a Filipino snack idea.

A Quick Snack Recipe

Saging con Yelo (Hielo / Jielo) Recipe

Summer is almost at our doorstep and we can feel the heat. A good way in refreshing one’s soul is to consume cold snacks. Preparing a good, cold Filipino snack can somehow get rid of the high temperature we feel. You don’t have to worry because there are lots of delicious recipes that you can easily prepare. One of these is saging con yelo or saba con jielo.


This is quick and simple recipe that is often served as snack or dessert. In the Philippines, we call this saging con yelo (ice). “Yelo” from the Spanish word “jielo”. Bananas are abundant in the country and one can easily buy saba at the local supermarket .

Minatamis na Saging na may Gatas at Yelo (Banana with Crushed Ice and Milk)

Ingredients:

½ kilo of brown sugar
6 pieces saba bananas (peeled )
2 cups of water
I big can of evaporated milk (or fresh milk, whichever you prefer)
Crushed ice
Vanilla flavor

Optional ingredients:

Ripe jackfruit (langka)
Tapioca ball (sago)

Preparation:

Boil water in a saucepan. Add brown sugar. Bring to a boil while mixing occasionally. Be sure all granules of sugar are dissolved. Add the peeled bananas (saba) and wait until cooked. Remove from heat and let cool. Put two pieces of saba bananas into a serving bowl together with enough syrup. Add crushed ice and evaporated milk. You can also add additional ingredients like sago (tapioca) and /or langka.

Enjoy your Minatamis na saging with gatas and yelo with your family.
