Kwek-kwek is a cheap and healthy Filipino food and is also a good source of protein. It is really simple to make and you can make a whole bunch and keep it in the refrigerator for later consumption. When you are hungry between meals, you can grab a quick snack like this.
Ingredients of Kwek-kwek Recipe:
6 medium sized chicken eggs (hard-boiled)
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup water
2 cups vegetable oil or cooking oil for deep frying
Salt for additional taste
White pepper
Orange food color
2 table spoon corn starch
How to Cook Kwek-kwek:
Mix all-purpose flour, water, salt and pepper in a medium sized bowl. Mix well until frothy. Gradually add food color until the batter becomes orange in color. Roll over each egg on the corn starch and dip into mixed batter. Using fork, be sure that all sides of eggs are fully covered. Deep fry the prepared kwek-kwek into vegetable or cooking oil. Wait until the flour is cooked. Enjoy your kwek-kwek with vinegar dip with siling labuyo and chopped onions or garlic.
